May 13: The government’s new labour codes are expected to significantly simplify regulatory processes, reduce compliance requirements for businesses, and enhance overall competitiveness, according to the Labour Secretary.
The reforms are designed to consolidate multiple existing labour laws into a more streamlined framework, making it easier for industries to operate while ensuring better clarity and consistency in labour regulations.
Officials said the objective is to create a more transparent and efficient compliance system that supports ease of doing business, encourages formal employment, and strengthens India’s labour market structure.
The changes are also expected to improve labour welfare coverage while balancing the needs of workers and industry, contributing to long-term economic growth and productivity.
