New Delhi, May 15: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Malaysia, Uganda, and Cuba, focusing on strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.
The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including trade and investment, development partnerships, capacity building, and collaboration in multilateral forums. The meetings reflect India’s continued engagement with partner countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
During the talks with Malaysia, both sides reviewed progress in bilateral relations and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas such as commerce, connectivity, and education.
In his meeting with Uganda’s foreign minister, Jaishankar discussed strengthening development cooperation, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, skill development, and infrastructure, which form a key part of India’s engagement with African nations.
The discussions with Cuba focused on expanding collaboration in areas of development support, pharmaceuticals, and global diplomatic coordination, building on longstanding ties between the two countries.
Officials noted that India’s engagement with these nations underscores its commitment to a diversified foreign policy approach and its efforts to strengthen partnerships across the Global South.
