KATHMANDU, Sep 9: The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,365, as rescue teams continue to recover bodies and search for thousands of people still missing.
According to the latest information released by Nepal Police, 5,326 people remain unaccounted for, including at least 589 foreign nationals.
Rescue teams have been working across several badly affected districts, facing difficult terrain and large amounts of mud and debris. The recovery effort has so far recorded 363 deaths in Chitwan, followed by 226 in Nawalparasi East, 222 in Nawalparasi West and 197 in Nuwakot.
The disaster has caused widespread destruction, leaving families waiting for information about missing relatives and communities struggling to recover from the devastation.
Authorities and rescue agencies are continuing search and recovery operations while working to provide assistance to people affected by the floods. The focus remains on locating those still missing, recovering victims and supporting communities as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding.
