Bengaluru, November 03rd 2025: To commemorate National Unity Day, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru Campus, in association with the Police Department, organized a “Run for Unity” on October 31, 2025. The initiative aimed to promote the spirit of national integration, solidarity, and collective responsibility among students, staff, and law enforcement personnel.
The event was graced by Sri Basavaraju, IAS – Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru Rural District, and Sri C. K. Baba, IPS – Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru District, as distinguished guests. They were joined by Additional SPs, DSPs, and close to 150 police personnel, along with over 400 students and staff members from GITAM Bengaluru.
Flagged off from the GITAM Bengaluru Campus, the Unity Run proceeded to the District Commissioner’s Office and back, symbolizing harmony, integrity, and the power of collective effort.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Basavaraju, IAS, emphasized the importance of unity as the foundation of a strong and inclusive nation, while Sri C. K. Baba, IPS, appreciated GITAM University for fostering civic awareness, discipline, and community partnership through such initiatives.
Sri Nagraj K.S — Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), Bengaluru Rural District, in his address, spoke about the importance of unity in strengthening the nation and upholding its values of peace and brotherhood. Special thanks were extended to Sri Ravi P — Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Sri Sadiq Pasha — Circle Inspector, for their active involvement and support in making the event a grand success.

Commenting on the Run For Unity, Prof KNS Acharya Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM Bengaluru said “The enthusiasm of our students and the support from the Police Department made this event truly special. Such collaborations strengthen our resolve to nurture socially conscious youth who contribute positively to society.”
The event concluded with the Unity Pledge, reaffirming the participants’ dedication to upholding national integrity and peace.
