India Showcases Success of Labour Reforms at ILO Conference in Geneva

Geneva, June 11: India highlighted the positive impact of its recent labour reforms at the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference in Geneva, emphasizing the country’s commitment to creating a more inclusive, transparent, and worker-friendly employment ecosystem.

Addressing delegates at the conference, Indian representatives outlined how the labour reforms have simplified compliance procedures, improved ease of doing business, and strengthened social security coverage for millions of workers, including those in the unorganized sector.

The government noted that the reforms aim to balance the interests of both employers and employees by promoting job creation, enhancing workplace safety, and ensuring better access to welfare benefits. Special emphasis was placed on initiatives supporting women workers, gig and platform workers, and skill development programs designed to improve employability.

India also reaffirmed its commitment to international labour standards and inclusive economic growth, highlighting ongoing efforts to expand social protection and foster decent work opportunities across sectors.
