DigiLocker Expands: 68 Electricity DISCOMs Onboarded

New Delhi, June 11: In a significant step towards digital governance, 68 electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) across the country have been onboarded on DigiLocker, enabling consumers to access electricity-related documents and services in a seamless and paperless manner.

The integration allows consumers to view and store key documents such as bills, payment receipts, and account details directly through the secure digital platform. Officials said the move is aimed at improving transparency, enhancing convenience, and reducing dependency on physical documentation.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to expand digital public infrastructure and bring essential utility services into unified online platforms. By enabling DISCOM participation on DigiLocker, authorities aim to simplify consumer interactions and strengthen service delivery efficiency.

Consumers are expected to benefit from quicker access to records, easier verification processes, and improved portability of documents across states and service providers. The move also supports environmental goals by reducing paper usage and promoting digital-first service delivery.

Officials noted that further onboarding of additional utilities and service providers is planned, which will expand the scope of DigiLocker as a central repository for citizen services.

The development marks another milestone in India’s ongoing digital transformation journey, enhancing accessibility and citizen empowerment through technology.
