Bhubaneswar, Aug. 16 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Independence Day announced a major expansion of the state’s primary education system, unveiling plans to establish 2,200 Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Primary Schools in the first phase and initiate recruitment of 45,000 more teachers.
The announcements are part of the state government’s broader push to improve the quality of school education by strengthening both infrastructure and human resources.
2,200 Model Schools Planned
The proposed Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Primary Schools are aimed at creating better learning environments for children across Odisha. The government plans to focus on improved infrastructure, learning facilities and other basic amenities needed to strengthen primary education.
The initiative is expected to provide a stronger foundation for students during their early years of schooling and help improve the overall learning experience in government primary schools.
45,000 More Teachers to Be Recruited
Addressing the shortage of teachers, Majhi said the government has already recruited around 26,000 teachers over the past two years.
The state has now begun the process to recruit an additional 45,000 teachers, a move expected to improve teacher availability and provide greater classroom support to students.
The recruitment drive is likely to be an important component of the government’s efforts to address vacancies and strengthen the teaching workforce in primary schools.
Focus on Infrastructure and Learning Quality
The Chief Minister said the government’s education strategy will go beyond teacher recruitment. Alongside increasing the number of teachers, the administration is focusing on upgrading school infrastructure and improving learning conditions.
With the proposed model schools and large-scale teacher recruitment, the government aims to strengthen both the physical infrastructure and human resources of Odisha’s primary education system.
