Bengaluru, 9th June 2022: The Walkaroo group of companies has undertaken a variety of initiatives in the fields of education, empowerment, and infrastructure development with the purpose of fostering socio economic upliftment, particularly in the lives of the underprivileged. A number of schools in the Coimbatore area look to be getting a fresh start after the Walkaroo Group’s CSR activities have upgraded their infrastructures.
The Group is continuing to impact education in a meaningful way to help improve the environment of learning. In step with its creed of being an organization that strives to ensure quality education and improve learning conveniences for students at their character-building stage, the Group has been contributing meaningfully to nourish infrastructure at two State Government schools in the Chettipalayam region. The Government High Secondary School, Chettipalayam, and the Panchayat Union Primary school, Chettipalayam, are now being able to access infrastructure resources from the Walkaroo group in a phased manner as part of the group’s CSR offerings to the social sector.
Burdened with infrastructure requirements, the schools approached the Walkaroo Group for aid and after a recce, the group decided to extend assistance to the schools in stages. In the first phase, the group assisted GHSS, Chettipalayam, in setting up a modern sanitary system. The work involved toilet renovation, and extensive plumbing repairs in both the girls’ and boys’ washrooms. “We are very happy to see children attend school regularly now. Earlier there was a problem with water shortage and with no running water in the toilets, children found it difficult to use the restrooms. Girls had problems with sanitary issues too. We have taken care of the infrastructure and made it very convenient for the students.” Mr. VKC Noushad, Managing Director, Walkaroo Group of Companies said.
The infrastructure crunch by the schools was felt during the early stages of Covid pandemic breakout as students who couldn’t afford private schools were sent to government schools, leading to overcrowding. The situation became unwieldy because a lack of adequate desks and benches forced many students to sit on the floor. This situation has now been completely altered after the Walkaroo group intervened with infrastructure assistance providing desk and benches to both the schools.
“We believe that quality education and the facilities required to deliver effective pedagogy lays the foundation for a disciplined life and provides us with more opportunities and hence a better future,” Mr. VKC Noushad, Managing Director, Walkaroo Group of Companies added.
The Walkaroo group has also undertaken a project to digitally enhance the library in GHSS, Chettipalayam. The objectives of the project include inculcating reading habits, improving vocabulary and developing communication skills of students. The Group intends to extend this project to other government schools across India.
