Bhubaneswar, Sept 11 [UDN}: A birthday celebration turned into a meaningful act of compassion in Nabarangpur, as Lions Club Elite chose to share the joy of Shivani Mahapatra’s special day with residents of Asha Kiran, an institution working for vulnerable and differently-abled people.
On September 10, clothes were distributed among the residents of Asha Kiran on the occasion of Shivani Mahapatra’s birthday. Shivani is the daughter of Lions Club Elite secretary Avani Mahapatra. Rather than limiting the birthday celebration to family and friends, the initiative sought to bring smiles to the faces of people in need, setting an inspiring example of social responsibility and humanitarian service.
The service programme was organised in the presence of Lions Club Elite president Dr. Purnachandra Mahapatra, secretary Avani Mahapatra and Zone Chairperson Dr. Sanjukta Panda. Asha Kiran head Jagannath Behera was also present and extended his cooperation towards the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Lions Club Elite president Dr. Purnachandra Mahapatra said that the happiness of a birthday becomes even more meaningful when it is shared with others. He said that service and compassion are among the core ideals of the Lions Club and expressed his commitment to continuing such humanitarian initiatives in the future.
Zone Chairperson Dr. Sanjukta Panda said that the true meaning of life lies not merely in seeking happiness for oneself, but in creating moments of happiness in the lives of others. She described the decision to celebrate Shivani’s birthday with the residents of Asha Kiran as a beautiful and humane initiative. Referring to the Lions Club motto, “We Serve,” she called for carrying the spirit of service and compassion forward with greater commitment.
Asha Kiran head Jagannath Behera appreciated the humanitarian initiative undertaken by Lions Club Elite. He expressed gratitude to the club members for extending their support, affection and helping hand towards the residents of the institution.
Members of Lions Club Elite were present during the programme and conveyed their heartfelt birthday wishes, blessings and good wishes to Shivani. The celebration, held in an atmosphere of service, affection and empathy, transformed her birthday into a memorable and meaningful occasion.
The initiative conveyed a simple yet powerful message: when the joy of a birthday is transformed into service, a one-day celebration can become a lasting expression of humanity and compassion.
