Celebrating International Museum Day and its theme this year, Museums Uniting a Divided World, the Amrapali Museum is opening its doors to the public for a special Open Day on 18th May 2026, inviting visitors to experience one of India’s most significant cultural spaces dedicated entirely to jewellery and jewelled objects. Founded by Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera in 2018, the museum has evolved into a living archive of India’s ornamental history, preserving over 4,500 artefacts that span centuries of craftsmanship, ritual, adornment, and everyday life.

Marking the occasion, the museum will also spotlight its newly unveiled third floor, a contemporary extension of the museum’s storytelling approach. Moving beyond traditional display formats, the new wing explores Indian material culture through objects that extend beyond jewellery, including ceremonial artefacts, perfumery vessels, and devotional pieces that once formed part of everyday living. At the centre of this immersive experience is a striking Shiva Murti installation, accompanied by a specially curated light-and-sound presentation that brings together atmosphere, narrative, and visual storytelling.
Known for presenting heritage through emotion, accessibility, and experience-led curation, the Amrapali Museum continues to create spaces that resonate with younger audiences and contemporary travellers alike. The museum also features a dedicated section showcasing jewellery used in Bollywood films, highlighting the intersection of cinema, costume, and Indian craftsmanship. Projection-led storytelling, immersive chambers, archival narratives, and layered soundscapes transform the museum into a sensory journey through India’s enduring relationship with adornment, spirituality, and craft traditions.
