Tvastra by Prachi Foundation Releases Collector’s Book Honouring Young Artist

Mumbai, Apr 20: Some stories transform. On Prachi’s 23rd birthday, Tvastra by Prachi Foundation released a limited-edition collector’s book that brings together the life, art, and extraordinary spirit of Prachi Sumit Sharma a young artist who created over 200 works by the age of 18, and whose legacy continues to shape thousands of lives across Mumbai.

The book is both a biography and a curated collection chronicling Prachi’s artistic journey from the age of six, her mastery of painting, sketches, calligraphy, and quilling, and the signature motif that defined her work: butterflies, which she said symbolised freedom. She named her collection Tvastra — a Sanskrit word for “ancient creativity” a name as timeless as her art.

In 2022, when Prachi moved to higher place at 18, her father, serial entrepreneur Sumit Govind Sharma, and her mother Priya Sumit Sharma made her a promise: the world would see her art, and the world would know her name. In 2024, when she turned 21, they gave her a week-long solo exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery — her first solo show. Today, they keep their next promise with this book.

“Prachi is more than just my daughter; she is a force. During her just a bit over 18 years, she made more than 200 pieces of art, using every medium and feeling every emotion she could find. In 2022, destiny took her physically away from us, but it couldn’t take what she left behind. We are releasing a collector’s item — a book of her biography and her collection on her birthday, on 16th April. Prachi deserves to be celebrated, collected, loved, and to sit in someone’s home, making them feel something they can’t quite put into words. We have 200 reasons to celebrate Prachi, and we plan to do so till we live.”Priya Sumit Sharma & Sumit Govind Sharma, Trustees of Tvastra by Prachi Foundation.

The foundation that carries Prachi’s name is equally alive with her values. Through a partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Tvastra by Prachi Foundation brings structured art education — complete with trained teachers and free art supplies to children in Mumbai’s municipal schools. At Pratiksha Nagar and Adarsh Nagar schools, Saturday art classes have turned a subject on the timetable into a source of pride. Children who sat for their first formal art examination this year did so with the confidence that Prachi herself embodied.

The collector’s book, available in limited numbers, is designed to be as much a keepsake as a tribute something to hold, return to, and feel. It documents Prachi’s journey through her own art: 200 works, every medium, every emotion.
