May 20: The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has announced the launch of applications for 500 new Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students across the region.
The initiative seeks to equip schools with state-of-the-art labs where students can explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts through hands-on learning. These labs will provide access to tools, equipment, and mentoring to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and practical innovation skills.
AIM officials highlighted that this expansion forms part of a broader effort to strengthen India’s grassroots innovation ecosystem, particularly in underserved regions. The move is expected to inspire young innovators in Jammu and Kashmir and prepare them for future careers in science and technology.
Schools interested in setting up ATLs can apply through the official AIM portal, with the program offering financial support, technical guidance, and training for teachers to ensure effective implementation.
This expansion underscores the government’s commitment to nurturing innovation among India’s youth and bridging regional disparities in access to STEM education.
