Ola Electric Moves into Commercial EV Segment with New E-Scooter Approval

New Delhi, May 27: Ola Electric Mobility Ltd has received regulatory approval for a new electric scooter designed specifically for commercial use, marking its entry into India’s growing fleet and delivery mobility market.

The approval, issued by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, was granted in February 2026. It covers an L1-category electric scooter powered by a 4 kW motor, with a top speed of around 70 kmph.

The upcoming model is expected to be based on the company’s existing S1 platform but adapted for commercial operations. It is likely to be used in areas such as food delivery, quick-commerce logistics, and urban fleet services, where demand for electric two-wheelers has been rising steadily.

Industry sources indicate that the launch could take place in the near term, depending on market rollout plans and operational readiness.

With this development, Ola Electric is positioning itself to tap into the expanding commercial EV segment, which is becoming an increasingly important part of India’s urban mobility and logistics ecosystem.
