PATNA, Sep 10: More than 40 lakh people have been affected by floods across 14 districts of Bihar following five days of continuous rainfall, with several rivers flowing above the danger mark at multiple locations.
According to the state Disaster Management Department, around 41.45 lakh people in 517 gram panchayats across 84 blocks have been impacted by the floods.
The situation has affected several major districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur and Begusarai, where rising water levels have disrupted normal life in many areas.
The continuous rains and swelling rivers have increased the pressure on low-lying and flood-prone regions, raising concerns over access to roads, essential services and daily necessities for affected communities.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as water levels remain high at several places. Relief and response measures are being undertaken in the affected areas to support people impacted by the floods.
