Emeritus, the global leader in making high-quality education accessible and affordable to individuals, companies, and governments around the world, launched India’s first-of-its-kind Instructional Design Academy as companywide growth skyrockets.
Emeritus, which recently closed its record-making $650 million Series E funding round, is more than doubling the number of courses in their worldwide portfolio and hiring over 1,000 team members. As the company continues to scale at a fast pace, the need for Instructional Designers and top talent continues to grow. The Instructional Design Academy was created as a training program to cultivate talent and create career opportunities. Applicants are selected through a basic online aptitude test. The free four-week intensive program offers a stipend and the opportunity to work at Emeritus upon completion.
“In the last 12 months we’ve grown rapidly with more than 100% year-on-year growth,” said Ashwin Damera, CEO and Co-Founder, Emeritus. “We’re committed to hiring A+ talent to support our continued growth globally. With the launch of ID Academy, we’re cultivating talent and creating opportunities. This is a moment when what we believe in and work towards every day becomes reality.”
Emeritus collaborates with more than 50 top-tier universities across the United States, Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, India and China, to create short courses, degree programs, professional certificates, and senior executive programs. The company will hire more than 500 instructional designers to support its course creation this year. But there’s a talent shortage of instructional designers, especially in India so the Emeritus HR and Design teams conceived and created the program to “uplift those who need uplifting.” Through ID Academy, the gap between workers who want to join the online learning revolution and the lack of professional training available will begin to close. Emeritus aims to create a learning program that helps candidates build skills, offers career opportunities, and can scale.
The ID Academy offers career opportunities to people from any background with no previous training in design—college graduates, mothers returning to work, media professionals, or experienced professionals who are unemployed due to Covid-19, across all age groups and educational backgrounds, can apply. Emeritus industry experts will teach the program, applying instructional design in hands-on exercises with professional guidance. Participants will learn first-hand about the job expectations and culture in the e-learning field. The training program includes four weeks of comprehensive learning, eight hours a day, through 100 sessions.
This launch, paired with Emeritus’ rapid growth, continue to reinforce the company’s place on the cutting-edge of edtech.
