New Delhi, June 17: India is set to begin manufacturing Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre components domestically under the government’s vision of “Make in India, Make for World”, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said.
The initiative aims to strengthen India’s position in the global technology manufacturing ecosystem by developing advanced hardware capabilities for AI-driven infrastructure, including components used in data centres that power large-scale computing and digital services.
Officials stated that the move is part of a broader strategy to build a robust semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, reduce import dependence, and position the country as a global hub for high-tech production.
The domestic manufacturing of AI data centre components is expected to support the rapid expansion of cloud computing, artificial intelligence applications, and digital public infrastructure, while also attracting global investment in India’s technology sector.
Experts believe the initiative will generate new opportunities in high-skilled manufacturing, research and development, and advanced engineering, while strengthening supply chain resilience in critical technology sectors.
The government’s “Make in India, Make for World” vision continues to focus on transforming India into a leading exporter of advanced technology products, with AI infrastructure emerging as a key priority area in this transition.
The announcement reinforces India’s ambition to play a central role in the global AI and digital economy, supported by strong policy backing and expanding industrial capabilities.
