New Delhi, May 19: India’s tourism industry is projected to grow steadily at an annual rate of around 7 per cent till FY35, supported by rapid digital transformation, rising disposable incomes, and the increasing influence of young travellers.
Industry experts believe the sector is entering a new phase of growth where technology, personalised experiences, and changing travel preferences are reshaping the tourism landscape across the country.
Young travellers are emerging as a major force behind this expansion, with increasing interest in adventure tourism, wellness retreats, cultural experiences, eco-tourism, and short leisure getaways. Social media trends and digital platforms are also influencing destination choices and travel planning among the younger population.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to play a transformative role in the tourism ecosystem by improving customer experiences through personalised travel recommendations, smart booking systems, automated customer support, and data-driven services.
The sector is also witnessing growing demand for premium and experience-based travel, as consumers increasingly prioritise convenience, flexibility, and unique experiences over traditional tourism models.
Experts note that improved infrastructure, better connectivity, expanding digital access, and strong domestic tourism demand will continue to support India’s long-term tourism growth despite global economic uncertainties.
The industry is expected to create new employment opportunities while contributing significantly to economic activity, hospitality, transport, and regional development in the coming years.
