New Delhi, June 11: India is expected to maintain a strong economic growth trajectory, with real GDP projected to expand by 6.6 per cent in FY27, according to a report by BMI.
The projection comes despite an uncertain global economic environment marked by geopolitical tensions, volatile commodity prices, and slowing growth in several advanced economies. BMI noted that India’s relatively resilient domestic demand, ongoing infrastructure investment, and steady policy support are likely to help sustain growth momentum.
The report highlighted that private consumption and investment activity will continue to be key drivers of expansion, supported by favourable demographics, urbanisation trends, and improving business sentiment. Government-led capital expenditure is also expected to play a significant role in cushioning external risks.
However, BMI cautioned that external challenges such as global financial tightening, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical instability could still pose risks to the outlook. Inflation trends and currency movements will also remain important factors influencing economic performance.
Despite these challenges, India is expected to remain one of the fastest-growing major economies globally, reinforcing its position as a key engine of global growth in the coming years.
The report underscores continued confidence in India’s medium-term economic fundamentals, even as global uncertainty persists.
