Rourkela, May 20: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela successfully wrapped up the 10th edition of its three-day Research Scholars’ Week (RSW) 2026, highlighting cutting-edge research and academic excellence from PhD scholars across disciplines.
Held from May 16 to 18 at the institute’s BB Auditorium, the event brought together scholars from various departments to present their research through poster and oral presentations, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and innovation.
The inaugural session featured IIT Bhubaneswar Director Shreepad Karmalkar as Chief Guest, who spoke on the differences between course-based learning and research-driven education, emphasizing problem-solving, inquiry, and long-term academic engagement.
Institute officials, including Dean (Academics) A.K. Turuk and NIT Rourkela Director K. Umamaheshwar Rao, praised the research community for its contributions. They highlighted the importance of fostering innovation, academic collaboration, and publishing research outcomes for wider societal impact.
Over 128 research scholars from 20 departments participated in the event, spanning five major research clusters. Around 50 experts evaluated the presentations across categories.
The three-day programme also included a commemorative souvenir release, expert talks, and a valedictory ceremony featuring prize distribution and recognition of volunteers and outstanding presenters.
Organisers noted that RSW 2026 served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and scientific inquiry.
