Odisha Colleges Directed to Adopt ‘Shaktishree’ App for Student Safety and Support

Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Odisha Higher Education Department has instructed all state public universities, government colleges, and aided institutions to adopt and promote the newly launched Shaktishree mobile application aimed at improving student safety and support services across campuses.

In an official directive issued by Director of Higher Education Kaliprasanna Mahapatra, institutions have been asked to ensure widespread awareness and encourage students to actively register on the platform.

The Shaktishree app is designed as a student-focused digital tool offering multiple safety and welfare features, including SOS emergency alerts, safety check-ins, access to institutional updates, counselling support, and a structured grievance redressal system.

Authorities have emphasised that the platform is intended to strengthen real-time communication between students and institutions while enhancing overall campus safety and well-being.

Colleges and universities have been directed to use orientation programmes, classroom briefings, official notices, and digital communication channels such as WhatsApp groups to maximise student participation.

The department has urged all institutions to implement the directive on priority to ensure effective rollout and adoption of the application across Odisha’s higher education system.
