Hyderabad, Aug 18: To mark World Photography Day, the Tourism Committee of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) is organising “Telangana Through the Lens – 2026,” an open photography contest aimed at celebrating and showcasing the vibrant, diverse and lesser-explored tourism potential of Telangana.

Themed “Explore, Experience and Exhibit the Spirit of Telangana Tourism,” the contest invites photography enthusiasts from all walks of life to capture the essence of Telangana through their lenses. Participants can showcase the State’s culture, heritage, landscapes, architecture, festivals, wildlife, cuisine, traditions and people, with a special emphasis on hidden, unexplored and lesser-known tourism attractions.

Announcing the contest, Prakash Ammanabolu, Chairman, and D. Ramchandram, Co-Chairman of the Tourism Committee, FTCCI and Ms Sangeetha Parisaboina, Director, FTCCI said the initiative is intended not merely to capture beautiful photographs but also to encourage people to explore Telangana and bring its lesser-known tourism treasures into the public spotlight.

The contest is open to everyone, irrespective of age or professional background, and there is no entry fee. Participants may submit any number of entries. Photographs should be original and no filters or artificial image enhancements should be used. Entries must be submitted in JPEG format, with the file size of each photograph not exceeding 1 MB.

The contest carries attractive cash prizes. The first prize is ₹15,000, the second prize ₹10,500 and the third prize ₹7,500. In addition, five consolation prizes of ₹1,500 each will be presented.

FTCCI particularly encourages participants to venture beyond Telangana’s familiar tourist destinations and capture hidden gems, unexplored locations, lesser-known heritage sites, distinctive cultural practices, rural experiences, picturesque landscapes and other tourism attractions that deserve greater visibility. The contest seeks to use photography as a means of discovering and promoting new tourism possibilities across the State.

The last date for submission of entries is September 10, 2026. Entries should be emailed to https://tally.so/r/Y57G8d with the subject line “Telangana Tourism Photography Contest Entry – Your Name.” Each submission should include the participant’s full name, contact number, email ID and a brief description of the photograph, including its location and context. Photographs must be in JPEG format and should not exceed 1 MB each.

All entries will be evaluated by an expert jury comprising renowned photographers, tourism professionals and artists. The photographs will be judged on creativity, composition, relevance to the theme, originality and visual impact.

The winners will be announced and prizes presented at a special event. Selected photographs may also be featured in FTCCI publications, exhibitions and digital platforms, with due credit to the photographers.

FTCCI has invited photography enthusiasts to explore Telangana, experience its diversity and exhibit its spirit through their lenses, while helping bring the State’s lesser-known tourism treasures to wider public attention.
