Balasore, Sept. 9 (UDN): The mysterious rescue of an orangutan in Odisha’s Balasore district has taken a new turn, with a black-coloured car coming under the scanner after its movement was reportedly captured on CCTV in the area.
The orangutan was rescued from the Bhogarai area, triggering questions over how the animal, which is not native to India, reached the coastal region.
CCTV Footage Raises Questions
According to local residents, a black car was spotted moving through the area on the night before the orangutan was found. The vehicle reportedly left the location before returning about 10 minutes later.
Following the residents’ claims, CCTV footage from the area was examined. The footage reportedly shows a vehicle passing through the location and returning after a brief interval.
While the presence of the car has raised suspicion, there is currently no confirmation that the vehicle was connected to the orangutan.
Mystery Over Orangutan’s Origin
The development has added another layer to the investigation into the animal’s arrival in Balasore. Authorities are expected to examine the CCTV footage along with other available evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the orangutan’s movement.
The case has also raised concerns over possible illegal wildlife trafficking, as orangutans are native to Southeast Asia and are not found naturally in Indian forests.
For now, investigators are working to determine whether the black car’s movements were merely coincidental or whether they could provide a crucial clue to the origin and transportation of the rescued animal.
The orangutan remains under the care of authorities as the investigation continues.
